I am immensely grateful for the results of the presidential election.
I am thrilled that a vile constitutional amendment in my home state was defeated, 73% to 27%.
I'm still holding my breath on another constitutional amendment which remains too close to call (apparently, the ballots in my university's county got DUST on them and they're worried about the dust throwing off the scanners. Um, okay).
I'm devastated that Prop 8 passed in California.
And I hope that whatever way people voted, whether our candidates won or lost, we can all come together and work with respect and integrity to make this the best country it can be.
I also still feel like death warmed over, so that's all I can muster for the moment (at school today I felt like I needed a sign: I'm not sad about the election! I'm just sick!).
I'm horrified by Prop 8, but then, I was horrified that it made it to the ballot. What is wrong with people???

I'm horrified by Prop 8 too, but so excited about the presidency. (And I thought you lived in that state--my sister does too!)
There was a kind of collective excitement in the air here today, or at least that's what I felt (and imagined my students felt, too!) Plus, we've had freakishly warm and sunny weather in the past two days (it's usually cold, rainy, and grey here in early November). Today felt very surreal...
Obama has a lot of work to do (this country's pretty messed up!), but this is just soooo much better than the alternative--and than who we've had in office.
