Mantras

  • I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
    --Theodore Roethke
  • Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.
    -- Jean-Paul Sartre
  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?
Then there's a pair of us!
    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—
To tell one's name—the livelong June—
    To an admiring Bog!
    --Emily Dickinson

Oooh, exciting. Do you actually know the people, as in you're able to size em up? Good luck!

Sorry about the cat. Fingers crossed for interview outcome!

MLU - yes, I totally know them both personally! Unfortunately, they're both very nice, very smart, and very cool, damnit.

Chel - thanks! (And cat is improving. In part because they gave us painkillers for her so she's currently lolling about stoned!)

Re: nice and smart and cool: I'm sure they'd be thinking the same thing if they had been the ones to see your name on the sheet.

    What kind of job?

Oh, courthouse security is so fun. I nearly had my tiny pocketknife taken away from me a few weeks ago (had to trudge several hot blocks to the car and back to keep that from happening). And this in a state where legislators were trying to pass a no-permit, open-carry gun law. *headdesk*

Good luck with the potential job!

Dr. MB: my MIL did have her tiny Swiss army knife taken away by security at a presidential library opening a while back. Crazy! (Let me kill you with my 1/2 mm. scissor knife...)

All day simulated MBE. I haz it too on July 6. Good luck with the job!

    Good luck!
