Prompt: Appreciate.
What's the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year?
How do you express gratitude for it?
I am clearly feeling contrary, because my instinct here is to say, "I haven't come to appreciate ANYTHING in the past year." Or, I come to appreciate those things I don't have, like balance in my life this last semester - and I can't really express gratitude for something I don't have.
I suppose I have come to appreciate the opportunity to keep learning, and also the fact that I have learned stuff in the last couple of years. I'm not really sure how I express gratitude for that, except in trying not to bitch about what law school requires me to do. (I mean, I do bitch, all the time, about how much work I have to do and how poorly I'm managing it all, but I try to avoid an anti-intellectualism that I sometimes encounter among law students* - the kind of thing where I bitch about the very premise of what I'm being asked to do here. Hey, I signed up for law school; no one put a gun to my head and made me go! So it seems sort of ridiculous to bitch about having to think about the law, when, well, it's LAW school.)
