Mantras

  • I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
    --Theodore Roethke
  • Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.
    -- Jean-Paul Sartre
  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?
Then there's a pair of us!
    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—
To tell one's name—the livelong June—
    To an admiring Bog!

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference I think I need to stop buying nail polish:

You're not the only one :) I'm addicted too! Maybe we could swap a polish. I have a Zoya that is a sort of maroon color that I want to get rid of. It is Zoya Marcella, and it looks warmer in person than it does in the picture online, and I need to stick to cooler tones.

You are a bad influence. I went out yesterday and bought four bottles of nail polish: blue, green, purple, and pink.

I do the same thing - I have many bottles of what all amount to pale, shimmery pink.

Oooh I love that very first color, the kindof taupe-y one? I just bought one yesterday that looks a lot like it. Haven't put it on my nails yet, but if they look as good as that picture, I'll be so happy!

THE - you know, it's so funny, because I totally should swap away some of my polishes, but as soon as I read that, I thought, "But I want to keep all my virtually-the-same-shade-of-taupe!!" Oh, I need an intervention... (I am a cool-toned person too, although the Marcella looks pretty and would be fun to try. We should negotiate further!)

DEH - I'm so proud to be a bad influence! and those sound great - I'm not very good with blue and green shades (they make my hands look red), but I wish I could wear them more - very cool.

Katie - it's amazing to me how different pale pinks can be! I have a bunch of those, too.

lawschoolninja - great minds think alike! I love taupe-y nail colors (well, obviously...!).

I only do my toenails. Can't stand having stuff on my fingernails, but I don't feel it on the toes and I like how it looks.

At last. A person who takes her gray nail polish as seriously as it deserves.

    I love all of these!

I first bought similar shades from the Sephora line (Under My Trench Coat and Metro Chic) last winter when I was in the archives every day and sick of looking at my sad hands typing on my white white MacBook keyboard. Now I'm addicted. It completely pleases me to no end that you took a break from blogging about school to consider these very important matters! (And now I'm off to splurge on a post-conference pedicure...shh!)

I *really* want white toenails, but all the white polishes I've tried have either been translucent (I want opaque) or streaky (I don't want to look like I had my two-year-old do it).

Any suggestions on a good white polish? Not pearly, just white. Think "white-out" with a sheen.
