Mantras

  • I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
    --Theodore Roethke
  • Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.
    -- Jean-Paul Sartre
  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?
Then there's a pair of us!
    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—
To tell one's name—the livelong June—
    To an admiring Bog!
    --Emily Dickinson

That is wonderful! Nothing like being *read*! Woohoo!

ps: I don't know if you meant this in your post title, but now I have Talking Heads singing "Hey Now" in my head. Nice retro moment.

    That's wonderful! Congrats.

Cool! That's gotta be good for the ego.

...what does that mean in English? I know what it means in German...

Jansen, I didn't even realize it actually WAS a word in German! (and from what I can tell that's probably not what I meant to say...). I think it's actually Yiddish, but it comes from this. (Wow, I'm old...)

And thanks, everyone! It did feel nice. But maybe more significantly, nice in a non-sadness, non-nostalgia-inducing way (like, it was awfully nice to see, but I don't miss being part of that).
