Mantras

  • I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
    --Theodore Roethke
  • Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.
    -- Jean-Paul Sartre
  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?
Then there's a pair of us!
    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—
To tell one's name—the livelong June—
    To an admiring Bog!

As a cat parent myself, I am so sorry about your loss. I am not sure if you're heard of Rainbow Bridge, but you can make your own memorial to your beloved pet. http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/

    Take care, Lawgirl

I am so sorry for your loss. Our furry friends bring so much to our lives and are so terribly missed when they are gone.

I do think there is some comfort, though, in knowing they are no longer in pain or suffering.

    My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry about Pekoe. I certainly understand your attachment - my little Molly is what makes my house a home.

And, when you are ready, there are lots of little kittens and cats at area shelters and humane societies just waiting to come home with you.

I hope this might help: http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm

I'm so sorry! That's how my cat was before I had to make that decision, and it was really difficult. I don't think you're too invested in your pets - they are part of the family.

i agree with everyone else. i don't even know the little one, and i'm sitting at work in tears. even when i think of the divine miss t getting on in years, i cry.

my heart goes out to you new kid.

    ((((((((new kid))))))))

Thank you, everyone! I really appreciate the sentiments - it means a lot to me, and to NLLDH, to know that there are others out there who see their kitties as such important parts of our lives.

(I've kind of fallen off the NaBloPoMo wagon, so thought I should comment here!)

so sorry for your loss. We are very invested in our cats too, so I understand how you feel.
