Mantras

  • I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
    --Theodore Roethke
  • Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.
    -- Jean-Paul Sartre
  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?
Then there's a pair of us!
    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—
To tell one's name—the livelong June—
    To an admiring Bog!
    --Emily Dickinson

    Comments

Oh -- I saw the post about Youngest this morning, and didn't get a chance to get back. I hope he's just got a cold or something. And he sure is sweet looking. And can I just say I tend to go into student mode in faculty meetings?

Thanks for posts like this one. Hubby is seriously considering law school next year and his conversion from prof to student is one of his big concerns.

My university is developing a strategic plan for the future. So I went to the open discussion. While there, I read the draft plan (which I had not read before) and looked over the blog where people have been commenting on the plan. I mean, I felt pretty virtuous---I was reading things about the topic, right?---but certainly I'd hate if a student sat in my class doing that day's reading or working on next week's essay.

    So sorry about the kitty!
