Mantras

  • I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
    --Theodore Roethke
  • Freedom is what you do with what's been done to you.
    -- Jean-Paul Sartre
  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?
Then there's a pair of us!
    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—
To tell one's name—the livelong June—
    To an admiring Bog!
    --Emily Dickinson

To be, perhaps, too blunt --my apaprtment office answers the question I always had concerning students who were too dim to get into my CC.... their leader couldn't reason her way out of a paper bag.... So it is quite possible that they turned off the office cooling and turned you off as well -- especially since you are in a new building.

It might also be that more tenants are using the cooling system over the weekend and it can't keep up with the stress. If you had conventional AC, you could deal with it, but this weird thing leaves you at their mercy.

Well, I unfairly maligned them... it wasn't that they turned it off, it just broke! (It turned itself off, I'd bet because it was so damn hot. It's working great now - keep your fingers crossed it stays that way!)

And ItPF, I so totally know what you mean!
