Eek
I'd completely forgotten about an essay collection that had been proposed by some people I know and for which I'd submitted a proposal. You know how these things go... someone asks for something, you throw a few paragraphs together, and then a year later you're confronted with the news that the collection is a go, and you're left trying to remember what on EARTH you said you'd write about.
Digging out and rereading my proposal, my reaction is about two parts "that actually sounds like it might be pretty good, if I didn't have to write it" and about one part "what the HELL was I thinking when I claimed X??" I guess it's a good thing I haven't started selling off all my academic books yet.

well, you don't HAVE to write the essay, right? Do you WANT to write it?
Or, maybe I should say, congratulations on the acceptance of the collection?

Sounds like a nice problem to have!

Oh, yes, I could definitely have worse problems! (I'm very thankful that I got the notice NOW, and not, say, the first of class in law school! I should be able to get it done this summer fine, if I can remember what on earth I was arguing...)

I have an essay like that to write by the end of June! At least in my case the time between submitting the proposal and having to write the paper wasn't all that long, but I did still have a sinking feeling when I realized, "It's one thing to whip off a proposal, an entirely different thing to write the resulting article!"

I have one that was due last September. Half done, but I'm bored silly. And while it's "easy" to write, eh? More interesting things to do.
