On the way to class this morning, I turned my heel and COMPLETELY wiped out, crashing down on my hands and knees, just like that poor Chinese figure skater in the last Olympics. Ouch. Big bruises on my knees.
At least no one saw me. And I'm not prone to osteoporosis.
I walked into my afternoon class to find a colleague there to observe me, completely unannounced. On a day when my plans for class were, well, relaxed, to say the least.
Turns out, though, she actually liked what I did (because I give daily quizzes in this class, occasionally I cut them a break/make them do the work, by putting them in groups to write quizzes for each other, which they then take collectively; they usually all get excellent scores this way, which is fine with me because the point of the quizzes is just to keep them on track with the reading rather than to grill them mercilessly, but I was afraid it might look too lax to my colleague. Plus, this is supposed to be a discussion seminar, but given what else they've been doing this week and where we are in the syllabus, I lectured after the quiz). She thought the group quiz was a good idea and that the material was very interesting (I'm sure she had criticism too, but she didn't share that with me!).
I found something else in my closet that no longer fits me very well.
Alas, there is no up to this one.
