Running around like a chicken with her head cut off today - another day of intense workshop stuff, which I will duck out on early to head home so I can pack for my trip to visit the 'rents. The original plan was to pack last night and haul everything to school with me, but I was just so tired yesterday evening and couldn't face rushing to get everything together first thing this morning. My flight is this evening and I arrive at 10:35 pm, at which point I get to navigate driving out of the Airport from Hell (at least location-wise) and spend another hour or so driving to my parents' place. Well, that's what I get for taking the cheap ticket. And I figured at least the traffic wouldn't be bad/confusing/intimidating at that time of night. Since it's the last (or one of) flight of the day I realize the potential for delays/cancellation is high, but it's non-stop so I won't get stranded, and if worse comes to worst, I'll just go home for the night and head back to the airport the next morning. (There weren't any cheap early-Friday-morning flights or I'd have booked one to begin with.)
The nice thing is that time with the 'rents will be pretty relaxing - we are a mellow, sit-around-the-house kind of family. I may even get some work done! However, I'm not likely to get much blogging done, because my parents have no internet connection at all, and I'm not sure if there are any decent internet places (coffee shops with wi-fi?) nearby (last summer when we visited them LDH had to check his e-mail for interview stuff and we had to negotiate odd summer library hours and then compete with other locals and tourists for time on the three or four computers that these little library branches had available). I'm kind of hoping someone in my parents' complex might have some unprotected wireless going (yes, I am an evil poacher, something of which LDH definitely disapproves), but it's not very likely (the demographic where they live isn't exactly tech-friendly. Not to say that older people CAN'T handle the internet - plenty of my parents' friends do - but it seems less likely that they will; they don't have to do computers for work since they're all retired, and the internet might cut into their tennis or golf time!). So you may not hear from me till Monday evening, or more likely, Tuesday*- have a great weekend, everyone!
*Having put this in writing is a guarantee that I will end up blogging at some point at school today, and/or at home this afternoon while I'm packing, and/or at the airport this evening, and/or on the Cape this weekend....but if not, you can be sure I'm missing you guys!

Hope you have a fantastically relaxing weekend! Enjoy! :)

Look for a strip mall with a Panera Bread. You'll have to deal with being surrounded by Realtors, most likely, but they have the free Wi-Fi.

And there's always $tarbuck$, if you're really jonesing.
Happy trails. And re poaching wi-fi: If they leave it wide open, they almost certainly are willing to have the neighbors use it. We do that, as do most of our friends. Trying to hack the security with the neighbor's pet's name, now *that*'s bad.
