  • I'm Nobody! Who are you?
    Are you—Nobody—Too?

    Don't tell! they'd advertise—you know!

    How dreary—to be—Somebody!
    How public—like a Frog—

    Random vacation notes

It's funny how gunshots mean completely different things in different contexts. In many contexts, regular gunfire in the background means that you're in a crappy neighborhood. Regular gunfire here, where my parents live, means you're in a ritzy neighborhood, because it's a place where people who have the time and money to practice recreational shooting can come hang out. (My parents live right near a gun club.)

Yesterday I survived not one but TWO solo outings with my dad. Going places with my dad these days requires a great deal of patience, and I am not a patient person. So now I'm sure I'm going straight to hell even for feeling impatient.

I do get bonus points, though, for finding LDH this most EXCELLENT birthday gift:

    Clock

It MEOWS when its alarm goes off! And it's an orange cat! (Since Youngest Cat is LDH's baby, I get him orange cat stuff now.) And like I said to him on the phone last night, he will NEVER guess what it is! He's impossible to buy for, in some ways, so I was most pleased to find this.

That is a cunning clock. So, LDH doesn't keep up with you via your blog, eh? If it were Mike, he'd know about it as soon I posted!

OK -- that's at least as cool as my Wallace and Gromit clock!!

    I WANT ONE OF THOSE!!

    i heart your new clock!

I love that clock. Love. It.

How can one not wake up happy with a clock like that?

    Beautiful.

Where I live, gunshot means it's hunting season.

I saw clocks like that at Whole Foods! (For those who also want clocks.)

O my _gawd_ that clock is _soooooo_cute!!

WHERE did you get that fantastic clock??!!

    neato timepiece!

What a neat find! You must tell us his reaction when you give it to him.
